The Colonial Villa
The hidden secret of Sanur, Bali
Villa for rent in Bali with a great location
Sanur
Sanur is that part of Bali where you will still 'feel' the real Bali. In contrairy to the overcrowded Kuta, the 'artificial' Seminyak and the deserted south part of Bali, Sanur has it all. The beach (nice beaches, not the black sand-onces), a path along the beach (lovely to walk, stroll with the kids, go for your run, or even go for a bike ride) and plenty of little cafes and restaurants. The combination of the local life in Bali with the luxury of the western life is what we love about Sanur.
The history of Sanur goes back a long way. Only decades ago the name "Sanur" invoked thoughts of a rich culture, a village of artists and long, sprawling beaches. Sanur was also a spiritual center. It was well known that certain personalities in the village had a stong, magical influence. Nowadays, Sanur remains a magical place -whether by exploring the culture or just enjoying the beauty of the place and the amazing people that live peacefully here.
Over 4 km long, the beachfront promenade curves past quaint cafes, resorts, and traditional wooden fishingboats. This is where locals' and visitors' culturs cross under Bali's spell. And don't be surprised if you see a cow grazing next to a luxury resort!
In contrast to other beaches in Bali, such as Kuta and Seminyak, the beach of Sanur is safe for families with it's wide, and shallow sea bed. The white, sandy beach during low tide provides a wonderful time for paddling in the sea.
On Sunday afternoons the southern part of the beach (Merta Sari beach) is always full of Balinese families enoying their afternoon.
This is where you will experience a moment of the real Balinese life. If you prefer the more western style of beach, there is a Hyatt beach near by ;-).
Sanur has recently developed many leisure and sports activities, such as sea-kayaking, kite surfing, outriggers, speed boats, water skiing, diving and many more. From our villa you will find a RiP Curl Surf school in walking distance. Very popular is yoga as well in Bali, you will find one of the best yoga spots on the island also in walking distance!
Traditional fishing boats can be seen on the beach of Sanur, which also offers a scenic view of the island "Nusa Penida" and the beautiful Mount Agung.
To finish the day, just walk along the path and choose one of the many restaurants on the beach. Or go for one of the good and affordable places in the village where you will also find plenty of deli's and lovely shops. A wide selection of our favorite restaurants are displayed in the 'information guide' which you will find in our villa.
